Volunteering at the garden is an amazing experience. I have learnt so much from Stephen about plants and growing. It is a great way to meet new people, be part of a community, and have all the benefits of free vegetables and plants to take home. - Mattie

Volunteering at the garden has been truly enriching. My housemates and I come every week to tend to the patch of land allocated to us. W grow our own organic vegetables which we can then eat or donate once they are ready to harvest. Everybody that works at the Trust has been very welcoming and Steve is a great mentor. - Eloise

Thank you Hoxton Trust and Stephen in particular for an afternoon’s volunteering.  It was a joy to help in this gem of a garden and am in admiration of your organic ethos.  Stephen exchanged my time for his skills and knowledge.  Thank you, I will be back. - Polly Plunket, M J Mapp

I recommend Hoxton Community Garden as a place to volunteer and visit because of its beauty and peacefulness. Gardens are what we all need for our wellbeing and volunteers are crucial. I have done seeding, organising pots and planting a Quince sapling.  I have been looking for work in horticulture and Stephen, the Community Gardener has been very supportive and given me guidance on things I would need to know. - Fiona

I had a fantastic afternoon helping out at the Hoxton Trust Community Garden. The whole team (Stephen in particular) were really friendly and provided a range of activities that I could get involved in to ensure I was doing something I felt comfortable with. I spent the afternoon weeding a vegetable bed and turning compost, which will help the trust in future to grow its own organic vegetables and produce its own organic compost, which is vital for its wider education and support agenda in the community. Even though I was only there a short time I really felt like I was able to add value and could see the positive impact the garden has on the community. I’ll definitely be returning in the warmer months! - Julia Dodd FCA

Thanks for hosting me yesterday.  I enjoyed helping out in the gardens and seeing what the space means to the community.  I also learned a little about different types of plants and you were able to provide me with the necessary tools.  It is definitely something I would do again and it was nice to be outside. - Claire Turner,  Accounts Payable Manager

I thought the day was really good, much better than the other place we went to the year before! I liked the variety of jobs available and that we were able to pick which we preferred, and whole the day was nice and relaxed! - WORDPAY

A great way to spend a day – fun and rewarding, it gives an opportunity to shape an important aspect of the local community by getting your hands dirty. - WORDPAY

Michael and I had a great time volunteering with the Hoxton Trust today. Steve is a welcoming host who’s very willing to share his knowledge of plants and gardening, as well as the local area. It was a satisfying afternoon’s work for a worthy cause, and we’d definitely recommend it to others. - Luke Kenison, Operations Manager, Practical Guidance

I really, really enjoyed the day at the Community Garden! It was a great team building exercise and nice to get away from the office, at the same time making a difference to the local community. There was a good range of jobs that needed doing, meaning everyone could get involved regardless of strength/knowledge etc. Would definitely recommend to other teams! - WORDPAY

My colleagues and I recently spent our afternoon volunteering at Hoxton Community Garden helping to spruce up the landscape and prepare the garden for autumn. We learned that the Box Tree Moths are devastating topiary plants across Britain and unfortunately many of the hedgerow plants in the garden were also affected. We took offcuts from the hedgerows and planted them in small pots in the greenhouse where they will be nurtured until Spring. Once they’ve grown to a sufficient size, they’ll be planted amongst the resident hedgerow and will also be sold to support funding for the Garden. It’s a lovely garden and we had a great day out. We fully recommend it for those who like to be hands on. So if you’re thinking about volunteering here…do it! we rate it a perfect 5/5!! - Corporate volunteer
