Staff

Paul Fleming
Executive Director

Paul has been a resident of Hoxton for over 15 years and joined the Trust in June 2018. His background is charity fundraising and communications following a successful career in the corporate sector. He has a master’s degree in business administration.

Margaret Lauder
Legal advisor

Margaret is our longest serving employee having joined the Trust in 1993 when the Legal Advice service opened. She is an expert in welfare and housing rights. Margaret lives in East London.

Clarissa Trevor
Legal advisor

Clarissa has worked at the Hoxton Trust for 10 years.  After a career in Marketing and PR, Clarissa took time out to have four children and do a 2nd degree, returning to work at Enfield Citizen’s Advice Bureau where she did her Adviser training. Clarissa speaks French fluently and holds the Diploma of the Institute of Marketing.

Abbas Kaptai
Legal Advisor

Abbas is a trained legal advisor and lives locally, with his wife and children, in Stepney.

Stephen Mason
Community Gardener

Stephen is an organic gardener/tutor and environmental educator/trainer working with people of all ages and abilities in a variety of settings.

Max Mason
Garden Manager

Max has been a resident of hackney for over 20 years. She is an artist with an MA from the Royal College of Art and has a studio locally. She also has a background in art education, events, exhibition curating and creative production. She has been working at the Hoxton Trust since May 2022


Trustees

Ruth Lomax
Chair

Ruth is a senior leader in further education and has worked in Hoxton since 2006, focusing on creating opportunities for individuals and communities. Her background is marketing and communications, and she holds the professional accreditation of Chartered Marketer. Ruth became Chair in June 2023.

Kam Adams

Kam is a local resident and a Councillor for the Hoxton East and Shoreditch ward on Hackney Council. He was the Speaker of the council from 2019 to 2021.

Maria Way

Maria is a retiree, a local resident (of De Beauvoir) and has a long association with the Trust. She has been on the board since 2010 including as Chair between 2015 and 2022.

Warren Drew

Warren is a lawyer and journalist and an expert in litigation. Warren is a Fellow of The Royal Society.

Brogan McPherson

Brogan has been working in both the charitable and transport sector for over a decade, delivering projects with a variety of organisations. Currently serving as the Head of Partnerships at Campaign for Better Transport, she leads on the development of strategic partnerships. In addition to her Trustee role at The Hoxton Trust, Brogan is a Trustee for the Foundation of Integrated Transport and voluntarily runs the London chapter of PechaKucha Night.

Sharon Meager

Sharon has had a chequered career which has included writing, editing and doing research and working for the UN for seven years based in New York and then Tokyo. She moved to Hoxton in 2010 and immediately became involved with community green space and conservation issues which she is passionate about.

Kimson Alexander

Kimson is a service manager for Hackney Council and a qualified electrician. He has been involved with the Trust for over 15 years. He has lived in the area for over 20 years and speaks French Creole.

Sudenaz Top

Sudenaz was born and raised in Hackney and currently is an LLB Law student at City, University of London. She was previously involved in Hackney Youth Parliament as an Elected Member of Youth Parliament and was the Young Speaker of Hackney.
